For more than three decades, GBS Enterprises has been a leading provider of services and products for the pest control, mattresses and bedding, furniture, and hospitality industries. Dedicated to helping its community, GBS Enterprises supports such organizations as HOPE South Florida.
As part of its efforts to provide homes to individuals without permanent housing and hope to those who are hopeless, HOPE South Florida maintains several programs, including Faith in Action. This program provides crisis housing services to families sleeping on the street or in their car through its partnerships with churches and other organizations. More than 150 single mothers and 300 children are served through the Faith in Action program every year.
Currently, Faith in Action works with more than 45 churches and with 211 Broward - The Homeless Helpline. The helpline screens and prioritizes families based on their level of need. This wait-list of families is provided to case management personnel at HOPE South Florida and families are then screened, assessed, and accepted into the Faith in Action program.
Meanwhile, local churches provide the program with homes that they own or sponsor to help house families in need. While HOPE South Florida provides volunteer training, air mattresses, case management, and assistance with setup and teardown at these locations, hosts are expected to provide dinner, overnight supervision, and bag lunches to guests.
HOPE South Florida also maintains the Hollywood HOPE House thanks to a partnership with Hollywood Community Church, United Way of Broward County, and NatBank. At the home, the organization can provide between two and four single mothers with support and housing.
